FUID: Assign a Universal Product ID to Your Listings
Learn how FUID works for sellers — a universal 19-character identifier that standardizes your product listings across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
FUID (Flywl Unique ID) is a 19-character identifier that gives your software product a single, consistent identity across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. It eliminates duplicate listings, prevents data mismatches between marketplaces, and makes your product easier for buyers and procurement teams to find and reconcile. FUID is the first and only universal identifier for SaaS products across every cloud marketplace — purpose-built to bring order to the fragmented landscape of cloud software discovery.
Why FUID matters for sellers
Assigning a FUID to your product delivers concrete advantages across discovery, procurement, and data quality:
- Buyers searching marketplaces find your product reliably — no duplicate or mismatched entries that create confusion or split buyer attention across multiple listings
- Procurement teams can reconcile your product in their internal systems using one ID — eliminating the manual effort of mapping your product across AWS, Azure, and GCP separately in tools like Coupa, SAP, or ServiceNow
- AI-powered marketplace search rewards clean, standardized data — products with verified FUIDs rank better in AI-assisted discovery because they have normalized, unambiguous identifiers
- Your listing gets a verified identity that persists across marketplace updates — when you update product details, version, or pricing, the FUID remains constant, so external references never break
How to request or generate a FUID
Go to Listings and select a product
From the Beacon dashboard, navigate to Listings and click on the product you want to assign a FUID to.
Click 'Assign FUID'
On the product detail page, click Assign FUID. Beacon will open the FUID registry search interface.
Search the FUID registry
Search the registry by product name, company, or category. If your product already has a FUID — for example, if a buyer or marketplace admin previously registered it — you can claim that existing ID rather than creating a new one.
Generate a new FUID if none exists
If no FUID is found for your product, click Generate New FUID. Enter the required details: product name, current version, and primary category. Beacon uses these fields to create a normalized, de-duplicated entry in the global registry.
Flywl reviews and approves the FUID
Flywl's moderation workflow reviews the new FUID request to ensure it doesn't duplicate an existing entry and that the product data is accurate. You'll receive a notification once your FUID is approved and ready to use.
FUID is attached and synced
Once approved, the FUID is permanently attached to your product listing in Beacon and automatically synced as metadata across all connected marketplace listings — AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
FUID is a Flywl-managed standard. Once assigned, your FUID is permanent and globally unique. You can update the product name, description, version, and other details attached to a FUID at any time — but the 19-character ID itself never changes. External systems, buyers, and procurement tools that reference your FUID will always resolve to the correct product.
Using FUID outside Beacon
FUIDs aren't limited to Beacon's internal listing management — they're designed to be used across your entire go-to-market and procurement ecosystem:
- Embeddable search widget — Embed a FUID-powered search bar on your own website or documentation so visitors can find and validate your marketplace listings directly, driving discovery and conversion without leaving your site.
- Procurement team vendor records — Buyers' procurement teams can add your FUID to their internal vendor records in systems like Coupa, ServiceNow, or SAP. This gives finance and IT a single, stable identifier to track your product across contracts, renewals, and chargebacks.
- AI chat and RAG-powered queries — FUIDs are queryable through Flywl's built-in AI chat interface, which uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to return instant, accurate product insights — including marketplace links, version history, and pricing — for anyone searching by FUID.
