The Coupa integration connects Compass to your existing procurement approval workflows. When a buyer in Compass requests a private offer or initiates a marketplace purchase, the request automatically routes into Coupa for review and approval — no manual handoff required.

What the Coupa integration does

Routes Compass purchase requests into Coupa as purchase requisitions
Pulls existing vendor contracts from Coupa into Compass for renewal matching
Syncs completed marketplace transactions back to Coupa as purchase orders
Maps marketplace spend to your Coupa cost centers and GL codes
Supports Coupa's approval hierarchy — multi-level approvals work the same as your existing purchases

Connecting Coupa to Compass

Open the Coupa integration settings

In Compass, go to Settings > Integrations > Coupa

Initiate the connection

Click Connect Coupa

Enter your Coupa instance URL

Enter your Coupa instance URL (e.g., yourcompany.coupahost.com)

Authenticate with your API credentials

Authenticate using your Coupa API credentials (OAuth2). You'll need Coupa admin access to generate the API key.

Select integration scope

Select the scope: Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Contracts (enable all three for full functionality)

Map approval groups

Map Coupa's approval groups to Compass purchase categories

Test the connection

Test by submitting a draft purchase request in Compass — verify it appears in Coupa

What happens during a purchase

Here's the end-to-end flow when Coupa is connected:

Buyer finds an opportunity in Compass and clicks Request Approval
Compass creates a requisition in Coupa with all transaction details pre-filled
Coupa routes the requisition through your approval chain
Once approved in Coupa, Compass receives confirmation and proceeds to request the private offer from the seller
After transaction close, Compass sends the PO data back to Coupa for record-keeping

Tip

Pre-map your top marketplace vendors in Coupa before enabling the integration. This prevents Coupa from creating new supplier records for vendors that already exist in your system.
